Why we read the posting instead of filtering on keywords
A keyword filter would be simpler and it would be wrong about a lot of jobs. Three cases where it falls over.
- The same job has a dozen names
- Business operations, strategic finance, chief of staff and special projects are often the same job. A keyword filter finds one of them.
- Seniority hides in the title
- Search for the word intern and you get senior jobs that mention mentoring interns. We read level as level, not as a keyword.
- Companies file the same job differently
- TPM sits under engineering at one employer and under operations at the next. The posting knows what it is. The menu doesn't.
