- Software Engineering Intern
- The largest intern track, spanning full stack, backend, infrastructure, systems, databases, and cloud teams. Each intern gets a manager and a mentor and joins a company-wide intern cohort. US postings list Bellevue, Mountain View, and San Francisco.
- Software Engineering Intern (Winter)
- A separate January to April internship for students whose schools support a winter term. The posting says plainly that it is only for winter, and summer and fall candidates should apply elsewhere.
- Data Science Intern
- An internship built around data science fundamentals and coding for data processing and manipulation. Interviews test applied data skills, not pure algorithms.
- Product Management Intern
- A PM internship evaluated on product fundamentals and leadership, paired with an Associate Product Manager new grad role. APM postings have listed Bellevue, Mountain View, and San Francisco.
When Databricks posts internships
Databricks says most of its global interviews follow local academic calendars and that applications typically open in August. Late August and September are the prime window for the next summer.
The winter internship gets its own requisition well ahead of the January start. New grad software engineering and APM roles recruit on the same fall timeline as internships.

Who can apply
Intern postings ask for students graduating after the internship with a degree in computer science, engineering, or a similar subject; the Winter 2027 posting, for example, asked for graduation in fall 2027 or spring 2028. Expect to need a general-purpose language like Python, Java, or C++ plus algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design.
Databricks will only consider one application from a candidate every 30 days, so applying to several postings at once backfires. Interns are hosted in San Francisco, Mountain View, Bellevue, Amsterdam, Berlin, Belgrade, and Bangalore.
The interview process
Engineering applicants report a CodeSignal assessment: timed and proctored, three or four problems at medium to hard difficulty in about 70 minutes. It is the main early filter for SWE interns and new grads.
Candidates who pass move on to technical interviews and a conversation with an engineering manager. Databricks tells SWE candidates it grades code quality, not only correctness, and tells data science and PM candidates to prep their own fundamentals.
