Snowflake internships: when they open and how to apply
At Snowflake, most early-career engineers come through the General Software Engineering program, GenSWE internally. You interview once, generally, and then get matched to a team based on experience, skills, and preference. Interns go through the same system, with summer and fall cohorts in offices including Menlo Park, Bellevue, and Toronto.

Internships and programs at Snowflake

- Software Engineer Intern
- The main internship, offered in summer and, on separate postings, in fall for students whose schools allow an off-cycle term. Postings are often labeled by specialty, such as security, core engineering, or infrastructure automation, and interns are placed through the same team matching used for new grads.

- The umbrella program for early-career software engineers. Candidates interview once, then go through a team matching round, and new hires get defined growth paths toward promotion.
When Snowflake posts internships
GenSWE takes applications year-round, but summer intern postings have clustered between August and October. Applicants and recruiting guides commonly report many summer slots filled by late October, so the first few weeks after postings appear carry the most weight.
Fall internships have their own requisitions. Team matching can add weeks after the technical rounds, so the whole process has taken a month or more from application to offer.

The interview process
Snowflake describes GenSWE as recruiter or hiring manager conversations, technical interviews, panel interviews, and a final team matching round. It publishes prep videos from senior engineers on what it looks for in coding interviews.
Intern candidates commonly report an online assessment, then two technical interviews of about an hour that mix data structures and algorithms with some distributed systems and reliability discussion, then calls with one or more team managers before an offer.
