Review is rolling and the firm is small, so there is little slack later in the fall. Five Rings lets you apply to several positions but strongly encourages applying only to your top choice.

Who can apply

The summer 2027 quant trader posting asks for students graduating in winter 2027 or spring/summer 2028 and says students outside the US are eligible to apply. Both the trader and developer applications ask about US work authorization and visa sponsorship.

Every application asks for your GPA and its grading scale, and the software developer application also asks for your most recent transcript. LINK is only for current sophomores.

The interview process

Candidates describe Five Rings' process as heavy on math. Trading candidates report a timed online test with mental math and probability, then phone interviews with probability puzzles and game-style questions, then several final-round interviews.

Software candidates report coding assessments and technical interviews on algorithms and systems. At a firm this size, interviewers are often the traders and developers you would work with.

Have your GPA, grading scale, and (for software) a recent transcript ready before you open the application.
Pick one role you really want. The firm says so directly, and a scattered application reads poorly at a small shop.
Sophomores interested in systems should look at LINK. Few trading-firm programs are built this squarely around C++ and low-latency infrastructure.
