The world's largest asset manager organizes its Summer Internship Program by function, not by desk. Each applicant picks one program and up to two functions, and functions open on different schedules.

- Summer Internship Program
- Nine weeks, June to August, built to replicate the first-year Analyst experience. In the Americas it spans functions including Investments, Client & Product, Corporate & Strategic, Operations, Technology, and Analytics & Risk, with New York as the main office and roles in cities from Atlanta and San Francisco to Toronto and Montreal.
- Quantitative Master's Internship Program
- Nine weeks for master's students in analytics, computational finance, financial engineering, mathematics, or other quantitative disciplines who had relevant work experience before their master's. The focus is advanced analytics and problem solving.
- MBA Internship Program
- A nine-week summer internship for MBA students with at least two years of pre-MBA work experience.
- Full-Time Analyst Program
- A two-year program for new graduates, and the natural next step for summer interns, who are encouraged to apply after the internship.
When BlackRock posts internships
Functions don't all open at once. BlackRock's own FAQ gives Investments as opening in January and Technology in July, and for the 2027 class, Operations and Technology in the Americas opened in July 2026.
Each function is reviewed in its own window, so the deadline that matters is when your function's review closes, not a single firmwide date. Check the students page for each function's status and apply as soon as yours opens.

Who can apply
The 2027 Summer Internship Program in the Americas is for undergraduate or master's students graduating between September 2027 and July 2028. You may apply to one program and up to two functions, and a withdrawn application cannot be resubmitted that year.
Mexico City roles require fluency in English and Spanish. BlackRock also runs a separate Mexico City internship of seven to twelve months for undergraduates at Mexican universities.
The interview process
After you apply, BlackRock emails a pre-interview assessment: short recorded video answers to questions tied to your program, done in one sitting in under 15 minutes. It must be submitted within five days or the application is withdrawn. Software Engineering and Analytics & Modeling candidates also take a coding challenge.
Interviews with people from your chosen functions focus on the BlackRock Principles, your experience, and your capabilities, and may include a group exercise, presentation, or case study. Candidates often describe the last stage as back-to-back interviews.
Tips for applying to BlackRock
- Pick your two functions strategically. You get one program and two function choices a year, and withdrawing ends your shot for that cycle.
- Read the BlackRock Principles before the recorded assessment. Interviews are built around them, so have concrete stories that map to each.
- Do the video assessment soon after it arrives. Miss the five-day limit and the application withdraws itself.
