Fidelity Investments internships: when they open and how to apply
Mid-September to mid-October: that is Fidelity's whole application window for its main summer internship, with hiring wrapped up by January. The program is centralized across eight focus areas, from technology to actuarial work, and sophomores can apply alongside juniors.

- Summer Internship Program
- Fidelity's main 10-week internship, run June through August as one cohort across focus areas: Technology, Finance, Operations, Client Relations, Audit Risk & Compliance, Actuary, Human Resources, and Corporate Services Support. Technology interns are based in Boston, Durham, and Westlake, Texas; other areas use a wider set of U.S. offices.
- Asset Management Internships
- Internships in investment management for undergraduate and graduate students, in Boston, Chicago, Merrimack, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. They run on a separate calendar from the main program, with deadlines and locations that vary by role.
- Branch Internships
- Fully in-person internships in Fidelity's investor centers for undergraduates interested in financial advising. With 200-plus branches across 38 states and Washington, D.C., these reach well beyond the major hubs.
- Student-Athlete Program
- A 6-week version of the internship for student-athletes whose training schedules rule out a full summer. Offered in Covington, Durham, Merrimack, and Westlake.
- Leap Technology Program
- A cohort-based program for recent and soon-to-be graduates: concentrated onboarding, then two business rotations, then a full-time role. There are Software Engineer and Systems Analyst tracks in Westlake, Durham, and Merrimack, with four cohorts a year on quarterly start dates.
When Fidelity Investments posts internships
Fidelity publishes a narrow window for the main summer internship. Applications are accepted mid-September through mid-October, interviews roll through the fall, and hiring is done by January. Few employers are this easy to plan around. An application in late October is too late.
Asset management internships keep their own calendar with role-specific deadlines, and branch internships post separately. Leap recruits several cohorts a year, so it opens and closes more than once instead of following the fall campus cycle.

Who can apply
Students from any major can apply to the Summer Internship Program during their sophomore or junior year. Technology roles expect a technical or quantitative major, while Client Relations and Operations take a wide range of backgrounds.
Leap is for recent or soon-to-be graduates in technology or business and systems fields, and Fidelity states it does not provide immigration sponsorship for Leap. Asset management internships are open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
The interview process
With eight focus areas under one program, the interview format depends on where you apply. Interviews roll through the fall, and candidates report a mix of behavioral interviews and conversations with managers in the focus area. Technology candidates should expect a technical component.
Asset management roles go deeper on markets and investing. Branch internships lean toward client communication and interest in financial advising.

- Mark mid-September on your calendar. The window closes in mid-October, so there is little room to wait.
- Sophomores, don't sit this one out. Fidelity explicitly invites second-year students to the main internship, which few large financial firms do.
- Choose your focus area and location carefully. Technology interns only go to Boston, Durham, or Westlake, and each area has its own office list.
- Student-athletes should look at the 6-week program before passing on Fidelity.
