Summer 2027 recruiting
Goldman Sachs internships: when they open and how to apply
Nearly every undergraduate intern at Goldman comes through one Summer Analyst Program, covering banking, markets, engineering, asset management, and the control functions. The catch: each division opens on its own schedule. Two pre-internship series feed the program, one for first-years and one for sophomores.

Internships and programs at Goldman Sachs
The early-career programs it runs for students and recent graduates, by the names it uses for them.
- Summer Analyst Program
- A nine to ten week internship for undergraduates, normally taken the summer before senior year. You apply to a specific business and office, such as Investment Banking in New York or Engineering in Dallas, and after orientation and training you work on the team's live workload.
- Goldman Sachs Possibilities Series
- A spring program for first-year undergraduates at U.S. colleges who want an introduction to financial services. It is workshops and networking, not an internship.
- Emerging Leaders Series
- Built for second-year undergraduate and master's students, it prepares participants for future Goldman internships through business-specific training, interview preparation, and time with senior leaders. Tracks are tied to offices: investment banking, FICC and equities, asset management, and wealth management in New York; operations, risk, compliance, and controllers in Salt Lake City; engineering in Dallas.
- New Analyst Program
- The full-time analyst track for graduating students, which the Summer Analyst Program is designed to lead into.
When Goldman Sachs posts internships
Goldman does not open the whole Summer Analyst Program at once. Its program page says applications are open for select businesses, and in practice the front-office divisions go first. Last cycle, investment banking roles for summer 2027 first posted around January 2026, about a year and a half before the start date. Other businesses opened later in the year.
Review is rolling, so a posting that is technically open may already be deep into interviews. The pre-internship series keep their own calendar: Emerging Leaders has taken applications in early fall for a program running fall through spring, and the Possibilities Series has taken applications in winter for a spring program.
These are patterns from recent cycles, not published dates, and they shift. The reliable signal is the posting itself: Trakker is an internship tracker that reads Goldman Sachs’s careers site directly and can email you within minutes of a new role appearing.
Who can apply
The Summer Analyst Program is for students currently enrolled in a degree program, and most do it in their third or penultimate year. The Possibilities Series targets first-years and Emerging Leaders targets second-years; each program page lists the graduation window it accepts.
You get up to four business and location combinations per recruiting year. Anything past four is withdrawn automatically.
The interview process
After a resume screen, most candidates get a recorded HireVue video interview: a handful of behavioral and motivational questions, each with a short preparation window. Strong candidates move to a superday of back-to-back interviews with bankers or traders, mixing fit questions with division-specific technical ones.
Engineering applicants commonly report a coding assessment and technical interviews in place of the finance-style superday. For investment banking, expect accounting and valuation basics plus why Goldman and why that group.
Tips for applying to Goldman Sachs
- Four choices is not many. Spend them on division and office combinations you can defend in an interview.
- First-years and sophomores: the Possibilities Series and Emerging Leaders Series are the earliest structured contact the firm offers, and Emerging Leaders explicitly includes interview preparation.
- Practice HireVue answers out loud with a timer. Concise, structured stories beat polished scripts.
- Track each division's opening separately. An investment banking posting can close long before engineering or operations roles for the same summer appear.
