Citi internships: when they open and how to apply
At Citi, Investment Banking in Los Angeles and Corporate Banking in New York are separate applications: every summer analyst role is its own listing by business and city. Sophomores have the Early ID Leadership Program, a short virtual program built to feed the next summer class.

Internships and programs at Citi
The early-career programs it runs for students and recent graduates, by the names it uses for them.
- Banking Summer Analyst (Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Corporate Banking)
- A ten-week internship starting in June with about a week and a half of training, then placement on a team such as industry coverage, capital markets origination, or corporate banking. Postings are split by office and group, including New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and San Francisco.
- Markets Summer Analyst
- Summer roles in sales and trading and in quantitative analysis within Citi's Markets business, based largely in New York. Posted separately from banking.
- Services Summer Analyst Program
- An internship in Citi Services, which covers treasury and trade solutions and securities services for corporate and institutional clients. It is a distinct pipeline for students drawn to transaction banking over deal work.
- Early ID Leadership Program
- A three-week virtual program for undergraduate sophomores with training, mentorship, interview preparation, and panels led by Citi professionals. You apply to at most two business tracks, and it is designed as a pathway into the next year's Summer Analyst Program.
When Citi posts internships
Citi's banking summer analyst roles are among the earliest on the street. Its first summer 2027 postings appeared around December 2025, about eighteen months before the internship, with separate listings going up by business and office.
Early ID has run two cohorts a year. The fall 2025 cycle closed in early November, and a spring cycle opened in February 2026. Since it feeds the next summer analyst cycle, sophomores should look for it well before junior-year applications open.
These are patterns from recent cycles, not published dates, and they shift. The reliable signal is the posting itself: Trakker is an internship tracker that reads Citi’s careers site directly and can email you within minutes of a new role appearing.
Who can apply
Recent North America investment banking postings asked for juniors graduating between December 2027 and June 2028, a preferred GPA of 3.5 or higher, and strong Excel skills. Early ID is for current sophomores at four-year colleges, from any major, with a preferred 3.3 GPA.
Each posting is tied to a city and business. Read the requirements on the specific listing; they do not always match across programs.
The interview process
Applications go through Workday. Technology candidates take a coding assessment, and EMEA and global Services programs use a skills discovery survey. Selected candidates then get a one-on-one interview, and the final stage is multiple interviews, an assessment, or a case study depending on business and location.
Banking candidates describe the final round as several interviews with bankers, mixing valuation and accounting questions with behavioral ones.
Tips for applying to Citi
- Target the specific office and group you want. There is no general banking application at Citi.
- Pick your two Early ID tracks carefully. Applying to more than two gets you disqualified.
- Interested in transaction banking or payments? The Services Summer Analyst Program is a separate pipeline that many banking applicants overlook.
