Summer 2027 recruiting
Tower Research Capital internships: when they open and how to apply
Since 1998, Tower Research Capital has run high-frequency and systematic trading strategies with its own money. Intern classes are small and each office posts its own roles, so the same track can look different in New York, London, and Singapore.

Internships and programs at Tower Research Capital
The early-career programs it runs for students and recent graduates, by the names it uses for them.
- Quantitative Trader/Researcher Internship
- A summer internship in New York and Chicago for students who want to work on trading strategies and research. London posts its own version, and the 2027 listing there is only for students graduating in 2028.
- Quantitative Developer Intern
- For students who want to build the systems strategies run on: market data handling, execution, and research tooling. Posted for New York and Chicago, with a separate Singapore listing.
- Software Engineer Intern
- A New York summer internship on Tower's core engineering teams. Tower describes intern work as production infrastructure, not a sandbox project.
- Quantitative Researcher Intern (APAC)
- In Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Sydney, research internships come in two listings: one for Bachelor's and Master's students, and one for PhD candidates and postdocs.
When Tower Research Capital posts internships
Tower follows the quant calendar, not the big tech one. Postings go up in mid to late summer, a full year before the internship starts; by September 2026 its Summer 2027 roles were already on the firm's internships page.
Tower publishes no closing dates, and a role can quietly stop taking candidates once the class fills. With classes this small, the first few weeks after a posting goes up are when you want your application in.
Tower also recruits in person at career fairs and info sessions, and students can sign up to hear when it is visiting their campus.
These are patterns from recent cycles, not published dates, and they shift. The reliable signal is the posting itself: Trakker is an internship tracker that reads Tower Research Capital’s careers site directly and can email you within minutes of a new role appearing.
Who can apply
Internships are for current Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD students in quantitative fields such as computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, and statistics. Some listings name the graduation year outright, like London's trading internship for 2028 graduates.
In Asia-Pacific, research internships are split by degree level, so PhD students should look for the PhD and postdoc listing. Tower does not publish a GPA cutoff for its US roles.
The interview process
Candidates commonly report starting with an online assessment: a coding test for engineering roles, or a timed or take-home exercise in probability, statistics, and data analysis for research roles. Some research candidates describe a multi-hour take-home worked in notebooks.
Next come one or more technical phone interviews on probability, statistics, algorithms, and mental math. The last stage is a set of back-to-back one-on-ones, often with the team the intern would join. Reported processes move fast once they start.
Tips for applying to Tower Research Capital
- Check each office's listing separately. Tower posts the same track under different names and eligibility rules by region, and watching only New York means missing London and Singapore.
- For trading and research roles, drill timed probability and mental arithmetic. Interviewers care about quick numerical reasoning far more than finance knowledge.
- Developer candidates should be ready to talk about performance: memory, latency, how code behaves under load. Tower's business runs on low-latency systems.
- If your school is on Tower's recruiting circuit, sign up for campus visit notices on its internships page. In a class this small, a face-to-face conversation helps.
