Summer 2027 recruiting
LinkedIn internships: when they open and how to apply
Owned by Microsoft, LinkedIn still recruits interns entirely under its own brand, careers site, and timeline. Its postings have opened in early October and closed on a fixed date, sometimes within a week or two. That's a much tighter window than most big tech peers.

Internships and programs at LinkedIn
The early-career programs it runs for students and recent graduates, by the names it uses for them.
- Software Engineer Intern
- LinkedIn's main technical internship for undergraduates in computer science or similar majors. Interns work on real projects across product and infrastructure teams. Internships run about 12 weeks at LinkedIn's US offices, mostly in the Bay Area and New York.
- Associate Product Manager (APM) Internship
- A 12-week product internship tied to LinkedIn's APM program, which for new grads is two year-long rotations on different teams. Undergraduate interns are between their junior and senior years. LinkedIn looks for technical backgrounds plus evidence of building or leading something, like founding a company or club.
- REACH Apprenticeship
- A technical apprenticeship for people with non-traditional backgrounds: bootcamp grads, self-taught developers, career changers, and people returning to work. Apprentices are full-time employees with benefits, spend 20% of their time on self-development, and stay in the program for one to five years. Each cohort is small, around 10 to 15 hires.
- LinkedIn Scholars
- LinkedIn lists this next to its technical, business, and creative internships, pairing academic expertise with engineering and business problems. Eligibility differs from the standard internship, so check the LinkedIn Scholars page for the current rules.
When LinkedIn posts internships
LinkedIn has opened summer internship applications in early October, a few weeks after Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. Postings carry a set closing date, and some have come down within one or two weeks. One recent APM intern window lasted eleven days.
APM and business internships follow similar fall timing. REACH runs on a separate cohort schedule: applications for the April 2026 cohort are closed, and LinkedIn says to check back in mid-2026 for the next one.
These are patterns from recent cycles, not published dates, and they shift. The reliable signal is the posting itself: Trakker is an internship tracker that reads LinkedIn’s careers site directly and can email you within minutes of a new role appearing.
Who can apply
Internships are for students who graduate after the internship ends and return to school afterward. Software engineering interns are working toward a bachelor's in computer science or something similar and should be comfortable in a language such as Java, C++, or Python. LinkedIn doesn't publish a GPA minimum.
REACH doesn't require a degree, and it screens with written answers instead of a standard resume review. Separate master's-level internships exist in areas like data and infrastructure.
The interview process
Software intern candidates take an online coding challenge after the first review, then technical interviews on coding and past projects. The final round is known for being heavily behavioral, with questions about why LinkedIn and how you collaborate.
APM candidates get product sense and analytical interviews. REACH has its own process: written answers to three or four questions, a take-home technical project, then two virtual interviews, one technical and one on soft skills. It takes three to four months from application to offer.
Tips for applying to LinkedIn
- Set a reminder for the first week of October. LinkedIn's postings have opened then in several recent cycles and can close within days.
- Have a real answer for why LinkedIn. The final round leans behavioral, and interviewers expect you to know the product and its mission of connecting people to economic opportunity.
- Came into tech through a bootcamp or on your own? REACH is built for exactly that path.
