Internships and programs at PwC
The early-career programs it runs for students and recent graduates, by the names it uses for them.
- Audit Intern
- Summer and winter internships in Assurance for accounting students, posted by office. Interns support financial statement audits, review financial documents, help evaluate internal controls, and apply GAAP and auditing standards on real engagements.
- Tax Intern
- Summer and winter tax internships by office, plus specialty tracks such as Transfer Pricing, Customs & International Trade, and the Japanese Business Network. Winter tax internships line up with busy season.
- Destination CPA
- PwC's early track for accounting majors in the sophomore year of a four-year program (or junior year of a five-year program). You apply to an Audit, Tax, or Digital Assurance & Transparency internship labeled Destination CPA two years ahead; students who accept a 2028 internship offer are then eligible for a three-day, in-person Destination CPA event, with travel covered by PwC.
- Advisory and Business Services internships
- Internships outside audit and tax, such as Technology Consulting, Deals (including human capital due diligence), cybersecurity, and product management in PwC's commercial technology group. They are posted for the next summer and open to a wider range of majors.
When PwC posts internships
PwC posts client service internships by office and season, and the accounting side runs two cycles at once. In September 2026 it had Summer 2027 and Winter 2027 internships up alongside Destination CPA roles for Summer 2028 and Winter 2028; the Summer 2028 Destination CPA requisitions went live around September 10 and closed October 3. Fall is the main application season.
Advisory, Deals, and technology internships for summer 2027 were also posted in late summer and fall 2026. Each posting carries its own end date, so check the specific office and season.
These are patterns from recent cycles, not published dates, and they shift. The reliable signal is the posting itself: Trakker is an internship tracker that reads PwC’s careers site directly and can email you within minutes of a new role appearing.
Who can apply
Audit internships require a bachelor's in accounting (current or completed), at least a 3.0 GPA with 3.5 preferred, and a plan to meet CPA exam education requirements in your state before starting full time. Standard client service internships are aimed at students in the third year of a four-year program or the fourth year of a five-year program at the time of application.
PwC states that it does not intend to hire entry-level candidates who will need sponsorship through the H-1B lottery now or in the future, apart from exceptions in its published policy. Advisory and technology internships list their own majors, such as information systems or computer science.
The interview process
After you apply, PwC emails a required assessment, often within hours. Candidates then report a recorded video interview or one or two rounds of live interviews with managers, senior associates, or partners. Audit and tax interviews are mostly behavioral: teamwork, client service, and why accounting at PwC.
Advisory and Deals candidates are more likely to see a case or technical component tied to the practice. During the fall season, final interviews often follow the screen quickly.
Tips for applying to PwC
- Accounting majors should look for Destination CPA postings in the fall of sophomore year. They go up two years ahead and close within weeks.
- Pick an office on purpose. PwC posts the same role separately for each city, and that choice usually determines where you would start full time.
- Finish the assessment the day it arrives; it is part of the application.
- Have a clear answer on your CPA plan, including how you will meet your state's education requirements before starting full time.
