Netflix internships: when they open and how to apply
Small is the word for Netflix's intern program, which runs under the name Emerging Talent. There are few postings, windows can be short, and the process opens with a take-home assessment instead of a phone screen. With so few seats, catching a posting early is the biggest edge you have.

Internships and programs at Netflix
The early-career programs it runs for students and recent graduates, by the names it uses for them.
- Software Engineer Intern
- Netflix's core engineering internship, for bachelor's, master's, and PhD students in computer science and similar fields. Interns join teams working on the streaming product, infrastructure, or internal tools. It's a 12-week summer internship, mostly in Los Gatos or Los Angeles.
- Data and Insights Internships
- Data science, analytics, and data engineering internships, which together with engineering make up most of Netflix's intern roles. Some require a master's or PhD. Interns analyze member behavior and content performance or build data pipelines.
- Business Internships
- Netflix also hires interns in Content, Finance and Strategy, Marketing, and Program Management. There are fewer of these than engineering roles, and many are tied to the Los Angeles offices. Each posting names the team and project.
When Netflix posts internships
Netflix says intern roles start posting in late summer and early fall and keep coming through spring. The core software engineering internship has opened in the fall and stayed up for only about a month.
Specialist and PhD-level roles often post later, from winter into early spring. Netflix postings say a role is open for no less than seven days and comes down once it's filled, so a posting you see today may be gone next week.

Who can apply
Internships are open to students in a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral program, and you're expected to return to school afterward. Some data, machine learning, and research roles require a graduate degree.
Most US internships are in person in Los Gatos or Los Angeles, with some in New York. Netflix also hires interns in India, Poland, and Japan through local postings.
The interview process
Netflix describes the process as a take-home assessment followed by two to three rounds of interviews covering technical, role-specific, and behavioral skills. Engineering candidates report a coding assessment, then live coding, a design discussion, and a talk with the hiring manager.
The later rounds weigh Netflix's culture of independent judgment and candid feedback heavily. Expect questions about making decisions without much oversight and handling disagreement.
Tips for applying to Netflix

- Write the take-home like production code. It's the first filter and replaces the usual phone screen.
